Covering the Amazing Mary Poppins

This movie is one of the most whimsical films that Disney has done (in my opinion). It contrasts dreary England with the imaginative magic of a whole new world. That contrast makes the whimsy that Mary Poppins brings forth to the children and the audience for that matter, all the more sensational. The highlighted song for this article from the gorgeous 1964 film is, of course, supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. Check the highlighted covers below!

Sarah Spisak is a university student at MacEwan and a music lover. She’s been smoking weed since she was 17 to help with her anxiety. I interviewed her on her preferences both high and sober.

Post Modern Jukebox at Edmonton’s Winspear

From those leaning forward in the seats enthralled by the vocals of some of PMJ’s finest, to the couples swing dancing in the aisles to the versatile instruments. This performance had a captured audience. Watching the Post Modern Jukebox ensemble perform felt like you were the only person in the auditorium.

Dreams and Disney: Covering the Lion King

For this segment of ‘Dreams and Disney’, it was hard to choose just one iconic song of the film. But I went with the “Circle of Life” because it’s the opening song and everyone (arguably) knows the song.

Veronica Pineapples; Profile of Local Edmonton Musician

For many people, music is a way to cope through rough times. There’s music for when you’re heartbroken, for when you’re mourning, for when you’re angry. For Veronica Pineapple, that’s the main aspect of music for her. If she went through anything hard music is there for her. She wants to be there for people in the same way.
